2004

Testal put their remote pile driving analysers to good use, transmitting dynamic pile testing data live from South Africa to the UK Head Office for immediate analysis.

2003

Testal achieve UKAS Accreditation for Sonic Logging and Reporting.

2001

Testal invest in the latest digital Cross Hole Analyser (CHA) for Cross Hole Sonic Logging of large diameter bored piles.

1999

Testal invest in remote pile driving analysers (PAL-R’s) and undertake the first UK use of mobile phone technology to transmit live dynamic load test data back to the office for immediate evaluation and reporting by experienced engineers.

Testal continue to expand the portfolio of techniques that the business carries out and move into other areas of specialist testing.

1997

Testal achieve NAMAS (now UKAS) Accreditation for Dynamic Pile Testing and Reporting and Sonic Echo Pile Integrity testing and Reporting.

1996

Testal purchase Noise and Vibration measuring equipment and commence monitoring reporting and equipment hire business.

1995

Testal invest in Cross Hole Sonic Logging equipment.

1993

Balken Piling, which had through a number of owner changes become Hercules Piling, was purchased by Balfour Beatty.  Hercules become part of Stent and Testal become part of BALVAC, a multi disciplinary civil engineering company providing a specialist repair contracting service to the civil and building industry.

1991

Testal purchase the PIT - FV system.  First fully portable battery operated Sonic Echo / Transient Dynamic Response Pile Integrity Testing system.  PIT is now a one man operation.

1988

Testal assist Pile Dynamics Inc in a lecture tour of the Far East, lectures being held in Bangkok, Singapore and Beijing.

Testal purchase first portable PC based Sonic Echo / Transient Dynamic Response Pile Integrity Testing (PIT) System.  PIT is a two man operation.

1987

Testal purchase first digital Pile Driving Analyser (GCX PDA).

1986

GRLWEAP carried out to predict pile driving at Devonport.

1985

Testal carry out Dynamic Load Testing to large diameter jetty piles at Aqaba, Jordan.  Mr M J Tomlinson working on site with Testal use's test results and local knowledge to refine the design of the piles during construction.

1984

Testing and Analysis Limited (Testal) invest in the first IBM PC’s 8086 with 8087 maths co-processor and commence running new state of the art CAPWAP program written specifically for the PC.

1983

The increased volume of testing for various external clients led Balken Piling to set up a new, wholly owned, Pile Testing company Testing and Analysis Limited (Testal) to provide the piling industry with a professional Dynamic Pile Testing service.

1982

Testing of large diameter jetty piles carried out for the Electricity Supply Board of Ireland at the new Moneypoint Power Station.

1980

The company imported a DEC PDP11 computer and started carrying out CAPWAP analysis in UK.

1979

The company existed as the testing department of Balken Piling Limited, a contractor designing, manufacturing and installing precast concrete segmental piles, and carried out the first Dynamic Load Testing in the UK using a model EB Pile Driving Analyser.
